Healthy food and diet is among the keys in treating and preventing kidney stone. As defined, kidney stone refer to the salts along with other minerals formed in the vital organs of our body such as kidneys, ureters, and bladder. Many people are susceptible to this since these stones will usually form naturally. However, not all kidney stone is to be neglected as they definitely can cause extremely uncomfortable pangs of pain and might even lead to more complicate diseases.

Reports showed that along with early diagnosis, adapting a healthy diet is extremely crucial in order to avoid kidney stone. For those who are already affected by this condition, they should be aware of their food intake because this can directly affects the degree or severity of the kidney stone. Kidney stone do not form in a day or two. People who suffered from this disease will likely to have them 10-15 years from now. This is because many of them don’t maintain medication, healthy diet, as well as the exercise, all these are important in order to stay away from this condition.

Doctors along with specialists in the field of medicine would agree the fact that simplest ways to prevent the formation of kidney stone is by adapting a healthy balanced diet. A balanced diet would not only ensure that one is getting all the key nutrients she or he needs but also assures to have lesser chances of developing diseases such as kidney stone.

For anyone who is suffering from kidney stone, experts advise them to take specific precautions in preventing kidney stone especially in their food intake.

Healthy food for kidney stone

1.Increase intake of fluid. The amount of liquid in your body is crucial in preventing kidney stone. It is because the liquid is able to wash away toxins and flush them out from your body. Increasing fluid intake, especially water, is the simplest yet most effective way of preventing kidney stone as it can help your body keep hydrated while leaving your system clean. Eight glasses of water per day is sufficient usually for a normal individual but those with kidney stones need about 10 to12 glasses daily in order to flush out salts and other minerals from the body.

2. Restrict in sodium intake. According to US RDA of sodium intake is about 2400mg. It is well known fact that the risk of getting kidney stone increase with increase intake of sodium or salt. Too much salt or sodium is definitely one of the primary causes of kidney stone because it increases the calcium levels in the urine. Doctors advise people with calcium stones cut down or abstain from sodium from the foods they eat. Normally processed food such as canned soups and vegetables, hot dogs, sausages, processed frozen foods, luncheon meats and fast food are high in sodium.

3. Increase intake of fiber-rich foods. Indeed, fiber is considered important to kidney stone sufferers especially insoluble fiber. Fiber is the indigestible part of a plant and divided into water soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. Insoluble fiber such as wheat, barley, rice and rye contains phyatate. Phytate is effective in prevent crystallization of calcium salts such as oxalate and phosphate. Phytate helps to prevent the formation of kidney stones because it binds oxalates in the digestive tract. Soybeans also rich in insoluble however soybeans also high in oxalates, therefore the overall effect of soy on kidney stone are not clear.

In our body, drugs share the same route of absorption and metabolism as nutrients, which create the potential for interactions.

When food affects medicine

Foods can affect drug action in many ways. The most common is when foods interfere with absorption, which can make a drug less effective. For example, calcium in milk can bind to the antibiotic tetracycline, interfering with its absorption. Nutrients or other components of food can also interfere with a drug’s metabolism, or how it is broken down in the body. Finally, foods can affect the elimination of drugs from the body.

So some drugs should not be taken with food. Other drugs must be taken with foods to prevent stomach irritation.

When medicine affects nutrients

Some drugs interfere with the absorption of nutrients. For example, some cholesterol-lowering medications reduce the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. Others affect the body’s use or elimination of nutrients, like diuretics, which ca cause a depletion of potassium, and lead to a deficiency.

Dangerous interactions

The following are some of the more serious interactions that can occur between food and medicine:

MAO inhibitors and foods containing tyramine

Mixing monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors-a class of medications used to treat depression-with foods high in tyramine produces one of the most dramatic and dangerous food-drug interactions. Symptoms include a rapid rise in blood pressure, severe headache, collapse, and even death. Foods high in tyramine include aged cheese, chicken liver, certain red wines, yeast extracts, processed meats, dried or pickled fish, legumes, soy sauce, and beer.

Grapefruit

Grapefruit juice contains a compound that can increase the absorption of certain drugs, which can result in receiving a larger dose than was intended. This effect is not seen with other citrus fruit juices. Example of drugs that are affected include AIDS medications, cholesterol-lowering “statins” calcium channel blockers, antihypertension drugs, and cyclosporine, an immune system suppressant. As a general rule it is better to stay away from taking any medication with grapefruit juice. Since compounds in grapefruit juice can stay in the blood for 24 hours, effects may be noted even if the medication is not taken directly with the juice.

Foods high in vitamin K

Vitamin K is essential for clotting blood. Foods high in vitamin K, such as Swiss chard, kale, spinach, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and other leafy greens, can interfere with blood thinners.

Alcohol

Alcohol and medications do not mix well. Alcohol can slow down the body’s metabolism, so medication stay active longer than they should. In some cases, mixing alcohol with medication can be fatal. Try to avoid it completely when taking prescription or over the counter medication.

Gout is a painful swelling and inflammation of the joints caused by the build up of uric acid crystals in the joints. Gout is one of the most typical arthritis forms which usually appear as an acute attack. Gout is one of the most painful rheumatic diseases. It results from deposits of needle-like crystals of uric acid in connective tissue, in the joint space between two bones, or in both. This uric acid leads to inflammatory arthritis, which causes swelling, redness, heat, pain, and stiffness in the joints. Uric acid is a substance that results from the breakdown of purines, which are part of all human tissue and are found in many foods. Normally, uric acid is dissolved in the blood and passed through the kidneys into the urine, where it is eliminated. If the body increases its production of uric acid or if the kidneys do not eliminate enough uric acid from the body, levels of it build up in the blood (a condition called hyperuricemia).

Hyperuricemia also may result when a person eats too many high-purine foods, such as liver, dried beans and peas, anchovies, and gravies. Hyperuricemia is not a disease and by itself is not dangerous. However, if excess uric acid crystals form as a result of hyperuricemia, gout can develop. The excess crystals build up in the joint spaces, causing inflammation. Gout occurs in approximately 840 out of every 100,000 people. It is rare in children and young adults. Adult men, particularly those between the ages of 40 and 50, are more likely to develop gout than women, who rarely develop the disorder before menopause.

The good news is gout is preventable by controlling your daily diet. Here are the 5 tips of role of diet for gout sufferers.

1. Lose weight gradually. Many people who have gout are obese; losing weight-especially fat around the abdomen-often prevents future attacks. Weight loss should be gradual, however, because a rapid reduction can raise blood level of uric acid and provoke gout. Fasting increases the blood levels of uric acid, therefore, people with gout should never try to skip meals. High-protein, low-carbohydrate diets should be avoided since these diets encourage the formation of ketones, metabolic by-products that hamper the body’s ability to excrete uric acid.

2. You may have to modify your drug therapy. Sometime gout is brought on by using aspirin or diuretics for high blood pressure. This medicine may interfere with normal kidney function and the elimination of uric acid. Your doctor may change treatment if you experience severe joint paint while on a drug therapy.

3. Avoid foods that are high in purines. Foods with a high content of naturally occurring chemicals called purines promote overproduction of uric acid in people with a tendency for gout. High-purine foods include anchovies, sardines, liver, kidneys, brains, meat extracts, herring, mackerel, scallops, game, beer, and red wine; these should be avoided completely. Moderately high purine content is found in whole-grain cereals, wheat germ and wheat bran, oatmeal, dried beans and peas, and mushrooms; eat these in moderation.

4. Consume plenty of liquids. Try to drink at least 2 liters of plain water a day to dilute urine and prevent kidney stone formation. Beer and wines should be avoided as these beverages are high in purines and interfere with the elimination of uric acid. People suffers from gout can opt for distilled alcohols in minute amount. Gout sufferers should drink only distilled alcohols in small amounts. Caffeinated beverages such as coffee also can also increase the production of uric acid and further impair its removal from the body.

5. Eat fish rich in omega-3s. The omega-3 fatty acids in fish have been found to reduce pain and inflammation in people with rheumatoid arthritis and may have a similar benefit in gout, but this may be countered by the purine content of the fish.

People suffers from gout also may have hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and high blood cholesterol. Counseling by a registered dietitian may help in designing appetizing, healthful meals that strike a balance between these health concerns and the enjoyment of food.

Most overweight people go along with periods of dieting, then off dieting, slowly gaining and then losing a bit, while others continue to gain weight continuously until their Body Mass Index registers them as being in the overweight section of overweight.Additional problems are brought on by aging, they slow down using less energy to complete tasks, or skip them altogether. Exercising becomes more difficult due to loss of muscle tissue, (lowering our metabolic rate), aches and pains and reduced stamina.
With the tremendous increase in the percentage of overweight, let alone overweight statistics, there’s obviously millions of references and miracle cures around. Unfortunately in these articles, it can be seen that the truth is less dramatic.

So to start with, why are plenty of us so overweight?

Genetic
First there’s genetic differences when it comes to weight gain. Over two of our building block codes, or genes as they are known, are responsible for our metabolic rate, and for our desire to exercise. For example, two that has been discovered is called the FTO gene, and it regulates the amount of energy burned, without it more energy is spontaneously used for the same work.

Before birth and as babies
Weight gain problems can be initiated before you are born. In cases where the father is diabetic, smokes or has malnutrition and vitamin B deficiency, there is a greater chance of the kid growing up overweight.

In infancy
An early withdrawal off breast milk and replacement with a high calorie diet, including monosodium glutamate in kid formula, are indicators of future obesity.

As babies
Overweight parents have overweight babies. Babies are easily influenced. The misguided habit of providing babies with something to put in their mouths where ever they might be, shopping center, movies, beach, and the influence of peers under the same management will lead them unknowingly towards obesity. The school cafeteria looks like a speedy food joint filled with hamburgers, fries and pizza.

Lifestyles – food
Fast food today has never had a greater influence on the public, it is convenient, tasty and addicting. Popular outlets promote the habits and traits of overweight people who suffer from overeating. This is two of the most important causes of obesity. The food industry, fast food restaurants, and grocery stores make more funds on calorie rich foods than on unprocessed fruits and veggies.

Lifestyle – social trend
Fifty years ago people used to walk or cycle to work and most other places. Nowadays, the lifestyle of an individual has become increasingly sedentary as the years go by. The more technology advances, the more people sit at home all day doing nothing but staring at a screen, people would play computer games & watch tv in the comforts of their home. This and the fact that they do not control their food intake is another sizable reason why people become overweight.

Diet
This certainly goes under causes, read on. Recent research has shown that dieting is a major cause of obesity. While the long term success rate from dieting is less than seven percent, about 30 percent of dieters regain over they lose as a direct result of their dieting. Misleading promotion is, unfortunately, normal for the diet industry. The majority of diet food products tested for the New York state Consumer Protection Board contained more calories than listed on their package labels. 80 percent of the diet food products tested exceeded claimed calories, some by as much as 73 calories per serving. Added sugar has been found in 25% of orange juice brands described as pure & unsweetened.

Hormones
The hormone leptin signals to the brain (hypothalamus) that the body has had to eat, In a small percentage of people, there is a resistance to this signal that tells us that they have sufficient storage of overweight. Several studies have shown that fasting & low calorie diets lowers leptin levels. It might be that on short term leptin is an indicator of energy balance. This technique is more sensitive to starvation than to overfeeding. That is, leptin levels do not rise extensively after overfeeding. & in people who constantly over eat, this same resistance to the sufficiency signal develops. In order to restore this balance a drug, Fc-leptin is being developed. But this of coursework wont guarantee that in the long run the hypothalamus increases its resistance. Although they ought to not use theses causes as an excuse, they are certainly relevant. So it important that people understand whether they are going to be prone for weight gain in order to take steps to limit the effects before it is late.

The more colorful your diet, the better, according to Dr David Heber MD. Take few minutes to ponder what is the color of your food that you consume daily? Dr Heber recommends that a diet with fruits and vegetable across the spectrum of color. Fruits and vegetables are briefly divided into seven color categories :

Red Group (watermelon and tomatoes)

These contain carotenoid lycopene. Lycopene is able to help our body to get rid of free radicals that damage gene. One glass of tomato juice gives you 50% of the recommended lycopene.

Orange Group (carrots, mangoes,pumpkin and sweet potatoes)

This group of food contain alpha carotene, which protects against cancer. They also contain beta carotene, which is an important substance that body convert to vitamin A. Beta carotene also good for night vision.

Orange/Yellow Group (pineapple, orange,papayas and peaches)

These contain beta cryptothanxin, which is believed may help to prevent heart disease.
Red/Purple Goup (beets, eggplants, red wine, prunes, cranberries, black berries and red apples)

These food are loaded with powerful antioxidants called anthocyanins. Anthocyanins is believed to protect heart disease by preventing blood clots. They may also delay the aging of cells in the body.

Dark Green Group (broccoli,cabbage, Chinese cabbage)

These categories of food contain high level of sulforphane and isocyanate and indoles. Indoles is able to assist in warding off cancer by inhibiting carcinogens.

White/Green Group (leeks, celery,pears, garlic and onions

The onions contain high level of allicin -a type of antitumor properties. Other food contain of antioxidant flavonoids such as quercetin and kaempferol.

There is another category of food which does not mention by Dr David, it is the Black color group. According to the Chinese community, this group of food such as black sesame, black fungus and mushroom contain high level of vitamin E , mushroom is especially good for cancer prevention and enhance our immune system.

The Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit organization that advocates for policies that protect global and individual health, produces the Shoppers’ Guide to Pesticides in Produce. It is based on the results of nearly 43,000 pesticide tests.

Organic fruits and vegetables are by definition grown without the use of pesticides. But some find the expense of organic foods prohibitive.

Of the 43 different fruit and vegetable categories in the Guide to Pesticides, the following twelve foods had the lowest pesticide load when conventionally grown. Consequently, they are the safest conventionally grown crops to consume:

* Broccoli
* Eggplant
* Cabbage
* Banana
* Kiwi
* Asparagus
* Sweet peas (frozen)
* Mango
* Pineapple
* Sweet corn (frozen)
* Avocado
* Onion

Lean meats from a clean source can provide benefits to us humans, is a good source of protein. BUT….

PLEASE be sure of what you are putting in your body. The following link will take you through a ‘mystery meat’
“expose’” if you will, and shed some very serious LIGHT on the subject.

In fact, it will show you EXACTLY what you are eating and give you an understanding that you may have NEVER considered. Although vegetarianism is not for everyone, it is a healthy alternative to ingesting what you are about tosee. Personally, I am not a vegan. I do eat meat.

However, I DO NOT consume processed meats like the ‘mystery meat’ tour will showcase.You need to see this UP CLOSE.

http://clicks.aweber.com/z/ct/?JoDXSSqxAOPI4QyNmt4mKQ

Think twice about the deli meats, hot dogs and sausages. There is not one bit of useful nutrition found in these
products. We require LIVE foods. Whole foods. Food that nature provides. Nutrition that our cells can utilize to
rebuild our bodies EVERYDAY normally, instead of abnormally.

Cancer, is our bodies rebuilding itself ABNORMALLY !!! Eat and drink from the living earth dear friend!!!

This post shares about 10 facts on cancer. Do you know everyone of us has cancerous cells in our body? Keep reading it to know more about cancer, our enemy.

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. For a normal person, our body produce 100 to 200 cancer cells.These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person’s lifetime.

3. When the person’s immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc., and can cause organ damage,like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation does not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

10. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
